A Tribute to William Penn and his Ilk

Owen is preparing for the apocalypse and a central part of that preparation means making sure we can still eat breakfast without relying on a middle man. To this end, we have started making our own granola.

Ingredients:
oats
sliced almonds
dehydrated apple slices
light brown sugar
cinnamon
salt
unflavored cooking oil
honey
vanilla extract
dried fruit (usually dates, raisins, cranberries, and/or apricots)

At first we thought we thought we were smart by buying the big carton of oats at Wegmans...that is until we found the 25 lb bag. Using 8 cups of oats for every batch of granola (which lasts us about 2 weeks), this 25 lb bag was a godsend.

Fresh out of the oven

We have different preferences for how to enjoy our granola:

Owen (granola with powdered milk)

Anna (granola over vanilla yogurt with some berry sauce on top)
