Chicken...as God meant it to be eaten

If you like chicken soup and you like hot pot, this is the place for you...

It's a chain called 一席地 (Yi Xi Di) and it looks like a hot pot place (tables have the hole in the middle with the burner beneath for the pot to cook on), but instead of the normal spicy/non-spicy choices of broth, each table boils a pot of water with some herbs and other Chinese medicinal ingredients and then a full fresh raw chicken that some guy in the back just took a cleaver to in dropped in. They call it 鸡窝 or "chicken's nest". Each order allows you to choose five of the typical items offered at hot pot places (we chose frozen tofu 冻豆腐, shitake mushrooms 香菇, lotus root, celery, and cabbage) to cook along with your chicken.

1. Let your broth boil

2. Insert the whole chicken

(Swirl it around to make sure everything including the feet and neck cook)

4. Add the other ingredients

5. Enjoy!
